Move, Groove & Create: Building Community Through Collaborative Arts

Throughout the summer, The Mosaic Bridge Project has partnered with Creative Community Hive to deliver Move, Groove & Create, a free, multi-disciplinary arts workshop series designed to bring youth and community members together through movement, music, theatre, and visual arts.

Running every Thursday from July 9th to August 27th (July 9, 16, 23, 30; August 6, 13, 20, and 27), the workshop series provides participants with opportunities to explore different forms of creative expression in an inclusive and collaborative environment. Through the dedication of Mosaic Bridge facilitators and Creative Community Hive’s support, each session is designed to encourage confidence, creativity, and connection.

Each workshop combines multiple artistic disciplines, including:

• Music: Exploring rhythm, sound, and creative expression through collaborative musical activities.
• Improvisational Theatre: Developing storytelling, communication, and performance skills through improv exercises, character development, and collaborative theatre games.
• Visual Arts: Creating artwork that reflects personal experiences, ideas, and connections to the wider community.

A central component of the program is our Collective Hive Piece — a growing collaborative artwork that evolves with every workshop. Each participant contributes a reflection, design, or creative element inspired by their experience that day, creating a visual representation of the people, stories, and memories built throughout the summer. As more participants contribute, the piece continues to expand, demonstrating the collective impact of accessible arts programming and the power of many individual voices coming together.

Alongside the visual arts component, participants are also working toward a cumulative theatre performance developed through the workshop series. Through script development, improvisation, and collaborative storytelling, participants are exploring how individual ideas can transform into a shared production, allowing youth voices and creativity to take centre stage.
